Feast your eyes on these surviving buildings during your walk. Enjoy the ‘Beau Sejour’ fairytale, which Liege tourists call ‘the most beautiful corner of Limburg’. The Bridge
master’s house in Lanklaar was built in 1842. It serves as a residence for the bridge
official. Years later, the house was converted into a museum for folklore and local history.
It also highlights the history of the Zuid- Willemsvaart. On this walk, the bridge
master will be happy to lower the swing bridge barriers to give tourists a taste of life
around the banks years ago. The old canal in Lanklaar is a cut-off branch of flowing water
from the ‘Zuid-Willemsvaart’ that originates from the 1930s. This nature area is home to
much flora and fauna and sits beautifully in these stunning and idyllic surroundings.
Guided tours available for groups, booking is essential.
